A new plaza extends the length of the frontage of York St and offers a shared pocket of urban amenity for both the tenants and the public.
Design Statement
Fronting the prominent intersection of Market and York Streets, the centrepiece of the public realm is a new plaza forecourt is for the building entry and its new lobby interior works. The precinct is a complex confluence of of high-volume pedestrian and workplace traffic including access to the Australia Post office on the lower-ground floor. The new plaza extends the length of the frontage of York St and provides a tranquil pocket of urban amenity for the public, existing tenants and workers in the surrounding buildings. A new seating podium and garden resolve complex levels and organise movement and gathering for two new f&b venues. An elevated garden of climbers on the northern end is complimented by a Mika Utzon public artwork. New public realm amenity and activation is provided to the retail frontages of Market and Clarence Streets.
